Goo Goo Galaxy Slurp ‘n’ Slime Goo Drop – Bowie Beamheart Review

We were sent this product for the purpose of this post. All opinions are our own

If there is anything that I have learned from being the Mother of 3, it is this; Toy companies love a bandwagon and children are drawn to slime and gloop. Basically if a toy looks like it will take longer to clean than to play with, kids are IN!

We were recently sent a new slime/gloop themed toy. For the reasons given previously I was pretty sure Moose would like it but me? The jury was definitely out on that.

Goo Goo Galaxy Slurp ‘n’ Slime Goo Drop is quite the name isn’t it? Full marks to whoever decided not to go catchy but to go long. I think 3 Goo’s is a good number to be honest. You wouldn’t want anymore, would you?

I have to admit though, Bowie Beamhart is cute. She (we are going with she) comes packaged in a box that looks like a flying saucer spaceship.

What’s in the (spaceship shaped) box?

Inside the box you will find;

  • A large Goo Drop Doll
  • 1 x Candy Comet
  • A Goo Drop stand
  • 1 x bowl
  • A whisk
  • 1 x Regoovintaor
  • 5 x glitter fills
  • 2 x slime sachets
  • 1 x passport
  • 1 x glitter seal sheet

How does it work?

The idea is that your child is able to make their own slime. By adding just water (up to the handy fill line) they can stir their way to thick, gloopy delight. Then they can add the glitter bits to customise their very own galaxy slime.

Each glitter fill packet can be resealed which means they can be used more than once. I quite liked that.

Once your child has made their slime it is time to move on to part 2. That is, you have to “feed” the slime to Bowie Beamhart. This is done by using the reegoovinator (it’s a syringe)

You are supposed to hold the reegoovinator in the slime and pull the plunger up to fill it. You can but it is a bit slow going – we ended up just spooning it into the syringe. Much faster.

When your reegoovinator is full, you pop it into Bowie’s mouth and fill her up!

Because Bowie Beamhart has a see through body you can see the slime sloshing about in her tummy. Moose thought this was utterly hilarious. Once this starts wearing a bit thin it’s time to get the slime out. This means taking the Candy Comet out of her mouth and pressing her tummy to make her do a “comet vomit”.

What did we think?

As predicted Moose liked the slime mixing. He especially liked that he could add the glitter fills. Bowie is pretty cute and Moose loved being able to see the slime inside her.

The comet vomit was a great touch and much appreciated by my 5 year old who currently loves anything vomit or poo related. I found her surprisingly easy to clean. Just remove her head and wash her out with water. Because she is so easy to clean I think this considerably increases how much play time Moose will get with Bowie.

Goo Goo Galaxy Slurp ‘n’ Slime Goo Drop is available from Smyths as well as other retailers and is priced at around £29.99

Personalised videos from Santa with Portable North Pole

[AD] We were gifted a Portable North Pole Magic Pass for the purpose of this review

Portable North Pole is part of our Christmas tradition. I love the magic of Christmas. The mix of yummy food and drink, the shopping, the twinkly lights. I loved it as a child but it might be even slightly better when you have little ones for whom you can help provide that Christmas sparkle.

If you are in this position this Christmas you really need to check out Portable North Pole. It’s hands down the best app ever. Strong words I know but it honestly is. As you know from this post here, I try not to go too crazy at Christmas. But this is different! This is part of the magic for us.

The idea is that you input your child’s info into the app/website and at the end you get a video message from Santa at the North Pole personalised just for them!

How much is it?

This year there are 3 options but I definitely think that the magic pass offers excellent value. For just £12.99 you will receive

  • Unlimited access to all Premium videos and calls for unlimited kids

The Magic Pass is especially great value if you happen to have more than 1 child (or adult, there is an option for Santa to send a message to grown ups too!) as the Magic Pass entitles you to create unlimited videos for an unlimited number of children!

The message from Santa can be as full of info as you decide to make it. You can add photos of your child and on some videos you can even add friends and siblings names as well as pets. On some video messages you can add their interests or what they have excelled at this year for Santa to mention.

When your child sits down to watch their personalised message you can also choose to watch their reaction which is captured for you to watch back later! I love this aspect.

Moose is absolutely going to freak out with excitement when he sees his personalised video from Santa – my only problem is trying to decide which video message to create first!

4 Ways To Prepare Yourself For Your Upcoming Nuptials

The wedding is near, huh? Congratulations on finding someone that wants to be with you until the end! When you’re single and looking for love, actually finding someone can feel like climbing a mountain for most, so well done on securing a delight. You’ve been together for a while, and you’re certain that they’re the one, so keeping them chained to you by law is probably the right thing to do! So, again, congratulations on reaching that feat!

When it comes to the wedding itself, you’ll plan absolutely every part of it – no stone will be left unturned. It will be the most perfect day and evening, and it’ll be completely tailored to your wants and needs. Everything in that regard is completely sewn up. But what about you, personally? The big day and the proceedings are obviously important, but you need to be in the right shape as you head into it. You’re one half of the dynamic duo involved, remember? Everybody is coming to see you.

How can you possibly prepare yourself for your upcoming wedding, then? Well, there are loads of different things you can do to maximize your mentality, happiness, calmness, and looks going into it. Here are a few ideas for you right now:

Soak Up Every Bit Of Knowledge

You should probably be doing this in your everyday life anyway, but be sure to take in as much info about the big day as possible. There may be certain bits and pieces that you have no idea about. Whether it’s little gems from articles online or small pieces of advice from family members, you’re going to want to keep that data stored in your mind – you might need it later on down the line.

Work On Your Looks!

You’re going to be looked at a lot during the day. Now, that doesn’t mean you should crank up the pressure on yourself because you look amazing as you are. Shaking things up and spoiling yourself in terms of your appearance should be a mandatory thing, however! Go nuts, and make yourself the real center of attention – there will be photos of this that are viewed for years and years; do your best!

Don’t Overthink It

When something this large and significant crops up in one’s life, it’s easy for them to panic and begin worrying about every little thing. While it’s a big day, you have to treat it as though it’s something pretty straightforward – otherwise, you’ll go through the entire wedding on edge. It’s normal if you’re going through a list of wedding superstitions and possible problems in your head right now, but make sure you’re aware that the bad things in your mind will never actually happen!

Continue Working Hard At Your Job!

Yes, this is an important event in your life, but you should also recognize that you have other things going on. When you have lots of your mind elsewhere, it can become easy to get distracted in terms of your professional life. Keeping your head down at work will help you out professionally, but it will also help to take your mind away from any stress or anxiety you may harbor.

I signed up to Audible!

Since being diagnosed last year with a dodgy eye aka Punctate Inner Choroidopathy, it has been near on possible for me to read a book.

My love affair with books and reading began at an early age. I fondly remember escaping into the far off lands between those crinkled pages of well worn copies of Enid Blyton’s stories.

It was rare that as a child you would find me without a book in my hand. A trend that continued into my teens. I used my library card weekly. I remember going on bike rides to the library every week with my Dad. My siblings and I would spill out into the building and find our respective favourite sections from which to select our reading materials for the week ahead and then lug them home.

Books were my escape

I loved finding new worlds to explore. I remember how absorbed I was when I found a book I liked. It was rare that  I didn’t like a book.  Not only did I enjoy the stories but later, as a teenager I remember admiring how skillful the writer must have been to weave something so beautiful, so tangible using only words. I thought it was an amazing gift to have.

The PIC issue

Punctate Inner Choroidopathy means double vision for me. Double vision means that reading a book is currently a no go. So I have had to find a new way forward. I’m not sure why I didn’t consider Audible before now really but better late than never, right?

Now that I have joined up I thought I would put together a wishlist. Listening to audiobooks is going to be so good for me! It is something I will be able to do when working, when I am upping my step count for the day and then when I go to bed to help me to wind down. I can hardly wait to get started!

My list

The first thing I feel like I ought to do is to curate a list of what I would like to listen to. I do love a list after all! So here is mine in no particular order, and, please if you have a recommendation I would love for you to leave it in the comments!

Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Secret Surprise review

We were sent this product for the purpose of writing this post.

Hatchimals have long been a favourite of Moose. He loves the blind bag element and collecting the cute little characters. We were really pleased when we were recently asked to take a look at the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Secret Surprise and be a part of Spin Master toy’s WEEK OF WOW!

What is it?

The Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Secret Surprise is presented as an egg, approximately 12cm tall. It has the hearts to rub (as with all of the Hatchimal range) to reveal your first surprise but this one has 3 hearts. 3 hearts means 3 characters. Moose was very pleased with this fact.

Releasing our characters from their eggy confines revealed that we had been sent the Rhythm Rainbow set. There are 6 to hatch and collect!

Mason was quite pleased with his little characters and I thought they were cute too. He was happy enough to play with just them. I will admit that I did think that you didn’t get much considering the size of the egg but Moose was happy so..

Oops moment

Then my sister (Jo from The Knight Tribe – yes, she blogs too) happened to visit.

She asked why we hadn’t finished unpacking the contents of the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Secret Surprise. I had no idea what she meant. It turned out that actually what I thought was a very short 3 step instruction sheet was in fact folded and there was more to the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Secret Surprise. Oops. Face palm moment or what!

Moose excitedly got to work to find the rest of the surprises and was overjoyed to see that as well as his little characters the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Secret Surprise also had 3 more compartments with accessories as well as a a scene to build! Once built the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Secret Surprise can be kept as a keepsake by popping the clear plastic dome on top.

What did we think?

Moose really loved this set and thought it was very exciting to put together. He has already said that it is a toy that he would consider spending his birthday money on. Strong praise indeed considering that he has had said birthday money for 3 months now.

The main beef I have with most blind bags is that they end up lost. They are usually tiny items inside so its hard to keep collections together. The Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Secret Surprise is good because of the display element. It is pricier than other collectables but the quality is good and I really like that (if you follow the instructions properly) it’s easy to pop together and there is an element of creativity to it. Moose had great fun using the stickers (included) to decorate it. I wish there was a little less waste plastic but that’s something that maybe could be improved on in the future.

All in all Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Secret Surprise is one which will definitely make our Christmas list this year. Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Secret Surprise are priced at around £13. They are available from all good toy shops and of course, Amazon.
